Microsoft to save itself from the NSA

  • Considering that there have been recent reports regarding the NSA spying on Google, Yahoo and several other companies, Microsoft is planning on looking for new ways to encrypt its traffic.

Documents released by Edward Snowden suggest that services such as Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail were targets of the NSA project, which also hacked other companies' communication systems.

Microsoft's general council mentioned that the company is "focused on engineering improvements that will further strengthen security, including strengthening security against snooping by governments." He said the NSA snooping is disturbing as well as unconstitutional.

Critics of the company said this development is long overdue, especially since the Electronic Foundation gave Microsoft only one out of five marks in its security report card.
