Microsoft fixes flaw exploited by 'Chinese hackers'

  • Microsoft has patched up a flaw which “Chinese hackers” exploited to target US networks.

The bug was used to target Windows PCs that visited other compromised websites.

The Forbes news site became one such victim of the cyber-espionage, reports said. The website was compromised through a widget or software add-on. Forbes took “immediate actions” to deal with the incident, the company said.

Attempts to steal data from US government and military networks were, however, eventually foiled.

The attacks have been traced to a suspected Chinese hackers’ group called Codoso, media reports said.
