Italian tax police raid Facebook's Milan offices
December 8 , 2012
Italian police raided the Milan offices of Facebook on Friday to determine whether it had declared its income in Italy.
In recent months, Italian officials have ramped up their efforts to collect taxes.
According to an investigative source, tax officials first went to the offices of Facebook in Milan last month to collect documents.
"Facebook pays taxes in Italy as part of its business activity in the country and strictly complies with Italy's fiscal rules…"Facebook has fully cooperated with tax police during the investigation and intends to continue to do that,” the social networking site said in an emailed statement.
