Hack attack: Personal data of over 20 million people stolen, US officials say
July 10 , 2015
Hackers who targeted US databases stole personal data of about 21.5 million people, according to the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
Federal contractors and government job applicants were among those affected by the cyber attack, the OPM said. The figure is much higher than earlier estimates of the number of Americans affected.
American authorities have blamed the data breach on China. US politicians have called for the sacking of Katherine Archuleta, the OPM head.
