Galaxy S4 selling more in the US compared to iPhone 5
June 9 , 2013
It seems that the iPhone 5 from Apple is getting some stiff competition from Galaxy S4 being marketed by Samsung and that too in its own backyard. Michael Walkley, an analyst working with Canaccord Genuity, has gathered data which reveals that the new flagship product of the Korean electronics giant is the leading phone in terms of sales and this is applicable for 75 per cent of the telecom companies functioning in the North American country. Galaxy S4 was introduced in the US market on April 26 this year. During May 2013 it was the leading choice for people with Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint connections while iPhone 5 lead the charts for AT&T.
In April, however, iPhone 5 was the leading seller on all the four networks and Galaxy S4 occupied the second position in the Sprint and AT&T sales. It was in May 2013 that Samsung achieved the top spot among the smartphone vendors in the US. At present the other leading companies in that segment in the US are Apple, Nokia and HTC. During May, HTC One, a highly praised smartphone, was the third most popular choice for the AT&T, Verizon and Sprint users. Walkley’s research is primarily based on surveys done in stores and not on sale of individual units.
