October 16 , 2013
Soon after a research firm told BlackBerry customers that it's a good idea to change their devices, the company sent its customers full-page newspaper ads across the globe.
"These are no doubt challenging times for us and we don't underestimate the situation or ignore the challenges," the company said in an open letter.
According to Bloomberg, the letter will be printed in nine countries and will also be published on social media and sent to customers as well as partners.
The company said in its letter that it's "making the difficult changes necessary to strengthen BlackBerry. The goal for making this move is to assure the customers that they can stick to their devices without having to worry about the company.
"We have substantial cash on our balance sheet and we have no debt," the company said.
ZDNet referred to the letter as being "painful" to read.
