Blackberry cancels release of two phones
December 25 , 2013
Blackberry sold only 1.9M smartphones last quarter, a major decline from 3.7M one year ago.
Fearing poor sales, the struggling phone maker had to cancel two of its phones, which were still in development.
The company's third-quarter earnings report mentioned that it "made the decision to cancel plans to launch two devices to mitigate the identified inventory risk."
Blackberry had planned to market the two phones as low-cost devices. The news came along with the announcement that the company is canceling its annual conference.
