Android bug affects one billion phones, researchers warn
July 29 , 2015
Researchers have discovered a vulnerability in the operating system of Android mobile phones that affects about a billion devices.
Describing the bug as “extremely dangerous”, researchers from the security firm Zimpherium said it can be exploited simply by sending a video or photo message to a person’s smartphone, and doesn’t need any action on part of the receiver.
While Google has patched up the flaw, millions of devices continue to remain vulnerable, reports say.
