Wind blows Olympic flame
October 7 , 2013
It seems as if it was vexing to keep the Olympic flame lit in Moscow today.
Vladimir Putin called the day "joyous and momentous" at the Red Square lighting ceremony. "The Olympic flame- the symbol of the planet's main sports event, the symbol of peace and friendship- has arrived in Russia, and in a few minutes it will be on its way around our huge country."
However, the effect of a wind tunnel blew the torch out while it was being taken through a passage. A security officer had to come and help keep the flame burning.
The torch was lit in Greece last week before arriving in Russia today; it will make a 123-day long journey before the Sochi Games.
