Williams And Radwanska To Play Wimbledon Finals
July 6 , 2012
Day 10 at the All England Club courts gave us the names of the Women’s Finalists – Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska. Sixth-seeded Serena Williams delighted her fans by setting a record for serving 24 aces at up to 120 mph. Serena thus broke her own record of 23 aces set in Round 3 this year. Her 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over second-seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus reserved Williams her seventh appearance at a Wimbledon final.
Third-seeded Radwanska become the first Polish player in many years to reach the Wimbledon finals, when she executed a clean 6-3, 6-4 victory over eighth-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany in the semi-finals on Thursday. The last Polish player to have reached a Grand Slam final was Jadwiga Jedrzejowska in 1939.
