Surfer might have made a world record

  • The huge storm in Europe created some huge waves and provided surfer Carlos Burle the opportunity to be in the record books.

He rode a wave, which appeared to be bigger than the 100-foot Hawaiian Garrett McNamara, ridden in Portugal in January.

Burle also rescued surfer Maya Gaberia, who almost drowned. "It was luck," Burle said. "We never know when we will be catching the wave."

"I still hadn't surfed any wave and everyone had already had their rides. Maya almost died. For me, it was a big adrenaline moment to get back there after what happened."
