Schools to stop having handshakes after games
October 10 , 2013
The governing body for high school sports in Kentucky has asked the schools to forbid organized handshakes after games since doing so has led to too many fights in the recent years.
Students are free to shake hands with opposing teams if they wish to but following postgame activities doesn't lead to any good and the administers fail to keep students from getting into fights.
Considering that the rule has changed in other states as well, it seems like sportsmanship is on the decline throughout the nation. Despite this fact, some coaches continue to favor the tradition.
The boys' basketball coach at Lexington Catholic High School said, "I'm a big proponent of sportsmanship, and we're going to shake hands, win or lose, unless my bosses tell me not to."
