Rafael Nadal pulls out of Australian Open
December 29 , 2012
Tennis ace Rafael Nadal announced on Friday he will not take part in the 2013 Australian Open due to a stomach virus.
The former world No. 1 has been sidelined with a knee injury since his surprise second-round Wimbledon loss to Lukas Rosol.
Nadal, an 11-time Grand Slam winner, was forced to pull out of an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi earlier this week due to the illness.
The Spaniard lost to Novak Djokovic in last year's Australian Open.
