Putin calls for investigation into doping claims
November 12 , 2015
Russia’s president Vladimir Putin has ordered a probe into claims that Russian athletes have been involved in a systematic “state-supported” doping program.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) independent commission had made its findings public on Monday.
Putin called for a “professional co-operation” with anti-doping agencies.
Earlier, Russia’s sports minister Vitaly Mutko had alleged that the UK’s anti-doping system was "even worse" than the Russian one. But Putin has urged all officials linked with sports in Russia “to pay this issue the greatest possible attention”.
