New Zealand defeat England by 13 runs in rain-hit thriller
June 13 , 2015
Chasing a mammoth target of 399, England fought valiantly in a thrilling rain-hit one-day international (ODI) against New Zealand, but eventually were left 13 runs short of the revised Duckworth-Lewis total.
The game produced 763 runs — the most ever scored on English soil in an ODI.
Ross Taylor, unbeaten on 119, and Kane Williamson, 93, led the New Zealand attack.
In reply, England’s Alex Hales cracked a half-century and Eoin Morgan smashed 88 in 47 deliveries, but the final revised target of 34 runs from 13 balls proved insurmountable for the hosts.
