Jon Stewart talks about some NFL hypocrisy

  • Sports Illustrated noted that some team managers in the NFL wouldn't want to deal with the kind of controversy brought by a football player announcing that he's gay.

Jon Stewart spoke about NFL's hypocrisy and Michael Sam being the first openly gay football player: "No pro team wants the type of controversy having a gay player is going to cause," he said. "If he had just been convicted of DUI vehicular manslaughter or obstruction of justice in connection with a murder or had been accused of sexual assault or screamed the N-word at a concert or killed a bunch of dogs and buried them in his yard, you know ... NFL material."
