Injured Sharapova pulls out of US Open

  • Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova pulled out of the US Open on Sunday due to a leg injury. The tennis tournament starts here on Monday.

    The 28-year-old Russian and the World No.3 has not played since Wimbledon following injury.

    "Unfortunately I will not be able to compete in this year's US Open. I have done everything possible to be ready but it was just not enough time," Sharapova said on her Facebook page on Sunday. (Source: IANS)
