Doug Williams has been fired by Grambling

  • Grambling football coach, Doug Williams received a call Wednesday morning and was fired by the school after being told that it was going in another direction. 

    The remainder of his contract was bought out. Williams had recently agreed to a new three-year long contract, which paid $250,000 annually. 

    Williams said there wasn't a lot of conversation and he just said "OK" before leaving. 

    President Frank Pogue acknowledged Williams' many contributions and appreciated his service to the university. He mentioned that George Ragsdale, the running backs coach will serve as the interim head coach. 

    William said the only person who he has talked to about this incident is his son, who has played two games for Grambling this year. .

    "I told him he has to be strong and he told me he will," William said. "That's all I need for him to be strong. If he's strong, his daddy is going to be all right."
