Chicago Cubs sign seven-year deal with Anthony Rizzo

  • The Chicago Cubs signed a seven-year contract with first baseman Anthony Rizzo on Monday.

    The deal is believed to be worth $41 million and includes club options for 2020 and 2021.

    Rizzo has posted an average of 0.280 through 37 games this season, his second with the Cubs.

    He was acquired in a trade from San Diego in January last year.

    Last season, the 23-year-old hit 15 homers and knocked in 48 runs while batting 0.285 over 87 games.
