Chelsea appoints Robert Di Matteo as permanent manager
June 14 , 2012
Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed as Chelsea's permanent manager on a two-year contract.
Di Matteo was made interim coach following the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas in March and led the soccer club to Champions League and FA Cup victories.
The Italian joined Chelsea as a player in 1996 and scored 26 goals over 175 appearances before retiring from injury at the age of 31.
Di Matteo first became a manager at third-tier MK Dons in July 2008 and moved up a division to West Bromwich Albion the following summer.
