The family of F1 driver Jules Bianchi has said that the 25-year-old had suffered a “diffuse axonal injury” — a type of brain injury — during the crash at Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix.
“Jules remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi,” the family said in a statement. “He has suffered a diffuse axonal injury and is in a critical but stable condition.”
The French Marussia driver had hit a recovery vehicle that was removing another car.
