Aussie Adam Scott wins 77th Masters
April 15 , 2013
Adam Scott won the 77th Masters golf tournament on Sunday after defeating Argentine Angel Cabrera on the second hole of a nail biting sudden-death playoff.
Scott is the first Australian to win the Masters.
The two men hit a birdie on the 72nd hole at Augusta National Golf Club to finish the regulation portion of the tournament at nine-under-par 279, sending the competition to extra holes.
Scott pulled ahead with a tie-breaking putt on the final hole of the fourth round.
Scott, 32, was the runner-up in the 2011 tournament with countryman Jason Day, who came in at third place.
Cabrera, 43, won the Masters' green jacket in 2009.
The pre-tournament favorite, American Tiger Woods, was tied for fourth at five under par, four strokes behind the top three.
