Ashes: England stare at innings defeat at Oval

  • England are staring at an innings defeat in the fifth and final Ashes Test at the Oval.

Alastair Cook was their last hope of offering some resistance, but after his dismissal England were stranded at 203-6, still 129 runs behind Australia.

Earlier, England’s ninth-wicket pair added 47 in the first innings, but the hosts were bowled out for 149 after Australian skipper Michael Clarke declared at 481.

England have already won the Ashes, taking a 3-1 lead.
