US country star Little Jimmy Dickens dies

  • Little Jimmy Dickens, the US country singer and songwriter, has died aged 94 on Friday, January 2.

    His spokesperson said Dickens died Friday of cardiac arrest following a stroke in the last week of December.  

    In 1983, he was included in the Country Music Hall of Fame. The oldest member of the weekly music concert Grand Ole Opry, he last performed on December 20, days before he suffered the stroke.

    The Nashville Grand Ole Opry House Vice-President Pete Fisher described Dickens as a “one-of-a-kind entertainer” whose “spirit will live on.”
