US actor Robert Downey Jr pardoned for 1996 drug case

Robert Downey Jr, US actor who is well known for playing the role of Iron Man in a series of Marvel films, has been granted an official pardon for a drug conviction. As per media reports, the conviction had sent him to prison nearly 20 years ago and almost derailed his career. Governor of California, Jerry Brown, had announced pardons for 91 people. In 1996, cocaine, heroine and a pistol were found in the actor’s car when he was stopped by the police for speeding.
