June 8 , 2012
Archaeologists have uncovered the remains of an Elizabethan theater where some of William Shakespeare's plays were first performed.
The remains of the Curtain Theater, which opened in 1577, were found behind a pub in east London as part of regeneration works.
It is hoped the site will be opened to the public in the future.
Plays believed to have premiered there include Henry V and Romeo and Juliet.
