Mr T called for jury duty in Illinois

  • The American actor Mr T, known for his roles as a tough-guy was called for jury duty in Rolling Meadows, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.

Born Laurence Tureaud, Mr T became famous playing the boxer Clubber Lang in Rocky III, and B.A. Baracus in the hit 1980s television series The A-Team. Sporting his trademark hairstyle Mr T posed with fans, shook hands, and signed autographs for fans who included courthouse officials.

Though he was not finally picked as a juror from the pool of prospective candidates, he said he did not consider avoiding the responsibility when he received the notification to report for jury duty. The actor said “I've got to set an example. I understand my responsibility. I told the judge: I'll do my best to never let you down."

Mr T also said he “pitied the fool”, when asked about how he might decide the penalty for an accused person, reiterating one of his memorable lines from Rocky III
