Jazz bassist Marcus Miller's injured in bus crash

  • Grammy award-winning jazz bassist Marcus Miller and 10 members of his band were injured and their driver killed in a tour bus crash in Switzerland on Sunday.

    The bus overturned on a bend on the A2 motorway, police said.

    The driver died of his injuries. A reserve driver, Miller and members of the Marcus Miller Band managed to escape without serious injuries.

    The crash occured near the town of Schattdorf in central Switzerland as the band were traveling from Monaco to the Dutch town of Hengelo, where they were due to perform today.

    No other vehicles were involved and police are yet to determine the cause of the accident.

    Miller, 53, has played with artists such as Miles Davis, Eric Clapton and Jay-Z.

    He won a Grammy for best rhythm and blues song for co-writing Luther Vandross' 1991 hit Power Of Love/Love Power.

    A decade later, he won a second Grammy for best contemporary jazz album for M2.
