Elisabeth Hasselbeck to leave ABC's The View

  • Television host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is set to leave daytime TV talk show The View once its current season ends in August, according to media reports.

US Weekly magazine first reported that Hasselbeck would not return to the show.

According to an unnamed source, she did not attract enough viewers and her contract would not be renewed.

In response, ABC released a statement saying that Hasselbeck "is a valued member of The View and had a long-term contract."

Hasselbeck, 35, joined the show in 2003 and hosts the show alongside Joy Behar, TV journalist Barbara Walters, actress Whoopi Goldberg and comedienne Sherri Shepherd.

Hasselbeck began her television career as a contestant on the CBS reality show Survivor in 2001.
