Duncan Campbell wins prestigious UK art award
December 2 , 2014
Irish artist Duncan Campbell has won this year’s Turner prize for his “essay film” that examines the value of art, according to media reports.
Campbell, 42, was one of the four artists shortlisted for the prestigious £25,000 prize that was created three decades ago for promoting discussion “of new developments” in contemporary art in Britain.
The award jury described the 54-minute film as an “ambitious and complex” work that “rewards repeated viewing.”
Campbell said winning the award was a “validation” of his work.
