Sony Pictures has authorized the screenings of the comedy movie about North Korean leader in limited theaters across the US, according to media reports. The release was earlier canceled following a threat against US cinema-goers. 'The Interview,' a film about the assassination of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, will now be screened in some independent theaters across the country.
The White House has welcomed the development with President Barack Obama reportedly applauding Sony's decision. The fact that the Sony didn't give up despite escalating tensions was appreciated by Seth Rogen, the director of the movie.
