3-D release of 'Star Wars' prequels postponed by Lucasfilm

  • Lucasfilm is aiming to pour out all its efforts into its revival of the Star Wars franchise and has decided to postpone its scheduled release of Episodes II and III in 3D. “Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on Star Wars: Episode VII in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date”, said the studio in a statement. Lucasfilm bought The Walt Disney Co. for $4.05 billion in October 2012 and has revved up buzz for its new franchise film Star Wars: Episode VII, scheduled for a release in 2015.
