Walmart asking workers to help each other out

  • A Walmart store in Ohio wanted to make sure all its workers have a good Thanksgiving so it's asking them to help each other with food.

The Canton store put bins in the employee area for people to donate food items so "Associates in Need can enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner," the sign reads.

One of the employees didn't like the idea and sent a photo of the bin to the labor group called OUR Walmart, after which it sparked outrage. The chain said it applauded the program, even though it was store-level.

"This is part of the company's culture to rally around associates and take care of them," a Walmart spokesman said.

However, the worker who took the photo said the program was depressing and "demoralizing."
