US withholding major military aid to Egypt
October 11 , 2013
Washington has decided to withhold hundreds of millions in aid to Egypt, most of which was going to be military aid.
The nation provides Egypt with $1.5B every year; officials haven't mentioned the exact amount that's being cut but one of them mentioned that the withheld amount will include about $500M worth 10 Apache helicopters.
This decision could result in spoiling the already uneasy relationship between the two countries and could also result in Egypt asking for assistance from the U.S' rivals. The nation is still assisting Egypt in the areas of education, health and counter freedom.
This announcement came only days after there were false claims about the U.S. cutting the entire aid.
Meanwhile in Egypt, the trial of ousted President Mohammed Morsi has been scheduled to begin on Nov. 4.
