US labor market continues good run, adds 257,000 jobs in January

  • In continuing good news from the world’s largest economy, the US added 257,000 jobs in January, and the job figures for December and November have been revised sharply upwards.

    This makes January 2015 the 11th month in a row with over 200,000 jobs created, the best run in two decades.

    An additional 147,000 jobs also got added in both December and November, the US labor department said on Friday, bringing their total to 329,000 and 414,000 respectively.

    Economists believe that salaries and wages in the US are set to increase this year.
