UK Trails Other G7 Nations in Work Productivity

  • As per reports, a 16% gap in productivity has opened up between Britain and other G7 nations due to poor performance before and during the financial crisis a decade back. According to International Comparisons by Office of National Statistics' data of 2015, the productivity fell behind the US, France and Germany.

The ONS also said that since the economic slump of 2000, all the countries of G7 including Japan, Canada and Italy have experienced gaps in productivity, however, the effect was seen twice as severe in UK.

The per hour productivity in UK is 26.7% lower than Germany, 22.7% lower than France and 22.2% lower than the US.
