UK economic growth remains unchanged
May 24 , 2013
The UK's economy grew at a rate of 0.3 percent in the first quarter of this year.
Thursday’s figure released by the Office for National Statistics remains unchanged from the estimate given in April.
The rise sees the UK avoid entering a triple-dip recession, suggesting economic conditions are improving.
However, the International Monetary Fund has urged the British government to lift growth and continue with austerity measures following concerns that fiscal growth has remained on the weaker side since the economy first went into recession in 2008.
