Twitter posts net loss of $125mn; user growth slows
February 6 , 2015
Beating analyst expectations, Twitter has posted a fourth quarter net loss of $125 million compared to the same period a year ago.
Its revenue rose by 95% to $479 million in the October-to-December period, also faster than expected.
Meanwhile, the total active Twitter users per month have risen by 20% to 288 million from a year earlier. However, the site added only four million users in the fourth quarter, which is significantly lower as compared to the previous quarter.
Allaying fears of slowing user growth, chief executive Dick Costolo said that the trend in the first quarter of 2015 indicated that the numbers of new users were picking up.
