Taseko Mines praises Ottawa ahead of environmental hearings.

  • The company has been looking to get the environmental assessment process to change because of the previous rejection of the project.

    John McManus, the senior vice-president of operations for Taseko Mines Ltd stated that he believes Canada is taking a good approach to the development of this country's natural resources. The company has also made it clear to the government about the fact that it was not happy about the outcome of the previous panel.

    Brian Battison, vice-president of corporate affairs, mentioned the $120 million spent in excess by Taseko on the proposal. He also said that the there is widespread local support and that everyone that is running the company is from British Columbia, which is his home.
