Sony's net profit zooms to $664mn
July 31 , 2015
Sony’s quarterly net profit has more than tripled, thanks to a boost in sales of PlayStation games and image sensors. The Japanese firm’s net profit increased to $664 million in the April-to-June period from a year ago, and operating profit was up 39%.
Sales of televisions and smartphones were lower from a year ago. The tech giant’s PS4 consoles are, however, selling faster than competitors like Xbox One and WiiU.
Last month Sony had announced a capital raising, its first in about 25 years.
