Senate panel advances Yellen's nomination
November 22 , 2013
Janet Yellen's nomination as the head of the Federal Reserve has been advanced and a final vote in the Senate has been set up.
Republicans, who are against the low interest rate policies of the Fed, casted all the no votes but the nomination was approved on 14-8.
Yellen would be the first female head of the Federal Reserve as well as the first Democrat to lead it since 1987.
