Rolls-Royce bags $9.2bn deal with Gulf carrier Emirates

  • In its largest-ever order received, Rolls-Royce has bagged a $9.2 billion deal to supply engines for Emirates planes.

The engineering firm will be making engines for 50 A380 aircraft of the Dubai-based firm for the first time.

Tim Clark, the president of the Gulf carrier, said the agreement “cements the partnership between Emirates and Rolls-Royce”, and would also have a “significant” economic impact on the sector in Britain and Europe.

Rolls-Royce has 24,500 employees in the UK.
