Philips, Samsung, and Infineon fined by European Commission
September 4 , 2014
The European Commission has fined Infineon, Samsung, and Philips $182m for fixing prices of smartphone chips.
The three companies “colluded” from 2003 to 2005 on aspects such as pricing, capacity and contracts, the commission said.
Infineon, Samsung, and Philips were fined 82.8m euros, 35.1m euros, and 20.2m euros, respectively.
While the European technology firms Infineon and Philips have rejected the charge and plan to appeal, South Korea’s Samsung has not commented on the issue yet.
