New Safety Chief position created at GM

  • General Motors hasn't been doing too well in the safety department and the company recently created a new position, appointing Jeff Boyer as VP of global vehicle safety.

Boyer will be responsible for the recalls and other matters related to safety. "This new role elevates and integrates our safety process under a single leader so we can set a new standard for customer safety with more rigorous accountability," CEO Mary Barra said. "If there are any obstacles in his way, Jeff has the authority to clear them. If he needs any additional resources, eh will get them."

Boyer has been part of the company since 1974 and noted that "something went very wrong in our processes in this instance, and terrible things happened."
