Mumbai hit by massive power cuts

  • India’s commercial hub Mumbai was hit by an unprecedented power cut on Tuesday, September 2, disrupting life in large parts of the city’s central and suburban areas, as per media reports.

With the prevailing uncertainty after the Supreme Court's ruling against the legality of coal mining licenses, the country’s power sector could be facing a dearth of coal supply, reports said.

Tata Power, which supplies power to Mumbai, said the blackout was on account of a glitch at a power station.
