Mark Zuckerberg to donate $1B worth of fortune
December 21 , 2013
It's always good to see wealthy individuals being generous to the world: Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg donated a block of his company's stock worth $1B to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which provides grants to several other non-profit organizations in the area.
Reports suggest that the entrepreneur had made the same donation last year as well but the stock was only worth about $500M. The foundation's CEO mentioned that this is the largest gift they have ever received.
The move is part of the pledge he took to use half of his fortune for philanthropy. Neither Zuckerberg nor the foundation has disclosed any details related to how the donation will be used.
