Inflation in France turns negative, triggering deflation fears in eurozone
February 20 , 2015
Inflation in France turned negative last month for the first time in over five years, raising concerns over eurozone deflation, media reports said. Prices in the second-largest economy of the eurozone fell 0.4% in January compared to the previous year, driven by energy costs that were down 7.1% because of low global oil prices.
The European Central Bank had announced a stimulus program last month in an attempt to avoid deflation and boost growth.
