In-flight catalogue SkyMall files for bankruptcy

  • US in-flight catalog SkyMall has filed for bankruptcy, citing fewer readers.

Scott Wiley, the firm’s interim CEO, stated in court papers that the number of browsers of the catalog had dropped because of the “increased use of electronic devices on planes”.

Xhibit Corporation, the parent company of the magazine, said SkyMall’s 2014  revenues were $15.8 million, almost down by half from the previous year.

In 2014, Southwest and Delta airlines announced they would no longer carry the catalog.
