How to react to the threat of climate change?
February 25 , 2014
Barry Ritholtz of Bloomberg argues that the best way to react to the threat of climate change is by taking out your checkbooks and investing.
"Change and confusion equals opportunity," he said, and there are already several companies that are preparing for the crisis. He mentioned that the book 'Windfall: The Booming Business of Global Warming" is a good look at the way investors should be reacting to the situation.
"The closest parallel I can think of is that while 15th century clerics insisted that the world was flat," Ritholtz said, "savvy venture capitalists were investing in Christopher Columbus's Round-Earth startup." He wrote about those who still think that man-made climate change is not a reality and said "the flat earthers" might as well be on the losing side of the trade.
