Huguette Clark who left behind a fortune worth $300M before her death bought a mansion in New Canaan, Conn., in 1951 but never ended up residing there. She mentioned to people that the estate was meant as a refuge in case New York City was to ever come under nuclear attack. The mansion had been on the market since 2006 and is finally sold for $14.3M.
Clark also owned homes in California but spent the last two decades before her death in hospital rooms. Reports suggest that she never spent even one night in this Connecticut mansion and mostly resided in her apartment in Manhattan.
The mansion includes 22 rooms, nine bathrooms, 11 fireplaces, and much more.
